 Employment Program

Thanks to a grant provided by the Alberta Government, Alberta Works Program, we have received funding to create an employment training program called the Joey Moss Memorial Fund Employment Program, for people with diverse abilities.

Participants of the JMMF Employment Program will complete the program with an inventory of industries they are interested in; knowledge of how and where to look for job opportunities; an updated resume and cover letter template; interview skills and experience; and basic First Aid, WHIMIS and Food Safety certifications. We also offer ProServe (Alberta Liquor Sales Program) for individuals who choose to pursue this certification.

Participants who complete the program will also have four weeks of valuable work experience in one of the chosen fields offered.

Through the combination of job-hunting preparation and work experience, participants will be ready to begin their job search to start their career with renewed self-confidence, knowledge and experience.

Ongoing funding for the program will be provided by the Joey Moss Memorial Fund. To donate, please visit: https://www.winnifredstewart.com/joey-moss-memorial-donate

Testimonials

  • The program covered a wide range of necessary information for entering the work force. The instructors were involved with the family and kept us informed. This program assisted the students to gain confidence and were more prepared to go to work.

    -Parent of participant

  • Jeffrey is happy to be a participant in the program and thinks that the program is good as is.

    -Support worker of participant

  • Kale really enjoyed the program and he had the opportunity to start new relationships that he would not otherwise have had during the Covid year. Staff were/are remarkable.

    -Parent of Participant

  • This is an amazing program that far exceeded our expectations. It allowed our daughter to grow well beyond we thought she would in a few short months by taking this course on Employment Readiness. Both Tim Tazumi & Sabrina Villarreal went above and beyond to make sure that our daughter was comfortable and understood all of the information that they were covering. Because of these actions, her anxiety was kept to a minimum. This program at Winnifred Stewart/ Joey Moss Foundation, need to receive much more attention as there are more then enough young adults that could benefit from programs such as this. It took a lot of research and time to find this program, but it is absolutely a gem that is not exposed in our city that could help many young people with all sorts of challenges, be the best that they can be and achieve the best that they can achieve, to enter the work force with confidence.
